Lumps in breast, brca 2 positive

I have had a preventative mastectomy as brca2 positive.  Mum and sister have cancer. Found large painless lump on breast, went to gp and have suspected breast cancer. 2 week referral to breast clinic, going on Saturday. Over Easter found a smaller painful lump.

Not really sure what to say as could be nothing, yet still a bit worried

  • Hi KJD85,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear of your worries. This is only natural, given your family history. However, not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts or Fibroadenoma and I sincerely hope that this will turn out to be so, in your case. As I'm sure you know, the only way to be sure is to have some scans and possibly a biopsy.

I am glad to see that you don't have much longer to wait for your appointment. If you have any scans or biopsies, you may have a further wait of 1-2 weeks, before you get your results. This is always an anxious time, but, irrespective of the outcome, you will feel better once you know the results.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

I shall be thinking of you on Saturday.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
