2nd time having endometrial thickness

This is the second time I have had endometrial thickness. The first time it was 21 mm and I had fibroids. Once this was removed my heavy bleeding and clotting stopped. Now I have a 19mm thickness and have been told to re book another scan for 6 weeks. One ovary is 2.6cc and the other is 14 cc.
A bit of back history I am 50 years old and in the menopause stage. Since my last bout of heavy bleeding & clotting 2 years ago I have not had any bleeding at all.
I am a little worried now that I am being left to wait for another scan and continuing to bleed. Would this not make this worse?

  • Hello Teejay75

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some problems recently that have resulted in an initial scan and that you're now waiting for a follow-up scan in 6 weeks. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about this and what it may mean for you.

It's not uncommon for patients to be asked to repeat tests a few weeks after their initial investigation so that the doctors can compare how things have changed in that time. Try to take it as a positive that your initial scan didn't show any immediate cause for concern.

Do talk with your GP about your worries regarding blood loss over the coming weeks. Hopefully they will be able to give you some advice and reassurance.

If you would prefer to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope you have some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
