Colonoscopy

Hi everyone, I have been getting stomach cramps/pains that come and go throughout the day in all different places of my abdomen over the past 2 - 3weeks and also pain that comes and goes in my bottom. I had a fit test in February & that was negative but I know they’re not 100%. I have been checking my stools for blood but I can only see red pieces of tomato skin and red pepper which I have googled and says it’s normal to not digest the skin fully. I also have extremely loud gurgling noises from my stomach (Iv had this for a long time) but was told this was down to Ibs & to follow the fodmap diet. Has anyone else experienced any of this? Iv got a app with my doctor on Thursday I’m going to really push for a colonoscopy as I’m petrified and constantly worried it’s consuming me and thinking the worst, I’m only 38 but it’s been on the news so much lately how younger people are being diagnosed.

  • Hello Laura87

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health concerns about your digestive system. From your post, it sounds as if the problems you've described are causing you some real anxieties, so it's good to hear that you've already made an appointment to see your GP later this week.

There could be any number of causes for the symptoms you've mentioned and hopefully when you see your doctor later this week, they will be able to give you some reassurance. If you think it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses in the meantime, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you can get some answers soon and that the health professionals involved in your care can help to improve things for you.

    Best wishes,
