Testicular cancer ultrasound

Hi there had a scan on Thursday and the sonographer was silent the whole time and then asked me to sit up a few times and hold it during the scan of my left testicle, I have slump at the bottom of it and he spent a very long time scanning this one compared to the other after about 20-30 mins on this he then asked to scan my kidneys which was not part of the scan which has worries me more, still awaiting results from gp just wondering if this is normal or a link to hike finding an abnormality. Also how soon do the gp in general contact you if they have found an abnormality?

  • Hi z2212 and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry about the worries you've been having since your ultrasound.

Unfortunately I can't say whether this is normal or not, but hopefully some of our members who have had a similar experience will be along soon to share their thoughts and advice.

If it would help to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to address your concerns and put your mind at ease whilst you wait for your results.

How soon you receive your results will differ depending on what part of the country you're in, but if you contact your GP surgery they may be able to give you an idea of how long this may take, whether an abnormality is found or not.

Waiting for results is never easy, but we are sending you all our support and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
