2 Palpable Breast lumps

Hi Everyone. I'm just feeling very worried at the moment and trying to stay positive. After a friend was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer recently I started checking my own breastst more regularly. Likely around a month ago, I thought I felt something in my right breast but decided I was likely imagining it due to her recent diagnosis.

Fast forward to last Wednesday evening when I checked again. I had my right arm above my head stretching and I had an itch on my right breast so checked again and definately thought I could feel something. I asked my boyfriend and he confirmed it but told me not to worry and to get it checked out.

I called my GP on Thursday morning and was examined. She said she could find a lump but it was movable and soft and likely a cyst. Given the time its possibly been there she has referred me for further testing.

What's worrying me though is that when I checked my NHS app after receiving notification that my referral has been processed, my notes said she found 2 lumps. I was not told about a 2nd one. The notes say 2 palpable breast lumps In the right breast one superiorly above the nipple that was slightly tubular 1x0.5cm and another that was more in the
upper outer quadrant roughly 1cm
in diameter.

I'm chewed to bits and trying not to think the worst. Has anyone else experienced the same?

  • Hello PD80x,

Thank you for posting. I can understand how you're feeling, especially as your friend has a cancer diagnosis. When you’re worried that you may have cancer, it can be natural to overthink things and to think the worst, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor.

    I hope this is helpful,
