Cervical cancer symptoms?

Sorry if this seems like I'm jumping to the worst case scenario but I'm that sort of person. I've been having a lot of unusual vaginal discharge the last 2 weeks. It's a very pale yellow/whiteish colour. Not a cottage cheese texture. I've had thrush before and this doesn't seem like it. I've done thrush treatment to cover my bases and it didn't improve discharge. I had a smear test back in 2022 which came back clear. I had a bit of spotting 1 day after ovulation(according to my calender) as a 1 off but no other bleeding. No bad odor, any unusual pain or any other symptoms. Could anyone tell me if this could be a symptom of cervical cancer? Ive got an appointment with gp next week and I'm so worried. Could this be nothing serious? #overthinker

  • Hi Lilybloom,

It's normal to be worried and to jump to conclusions or anticipate the worst when often these symptoms are due to other things than cancer. What is important though is to get this unusual vaginal discharge checked so that they can treat these unpleasant symptoms. It's reassuring that the last smear test results came back clear and it sounds like there are no other concerning symptoms but you did absolutely the right thing in booking a GP appointment for next week. I am sure your doctor will be able to reassure you and tell you more about what this discharge might be.

Best of luck for your appointment next week and I hope that you will feel less worried once you have seen the doctor and that they will give you some treatment to clear the discharge.
