Loosing weight?

One of the symptoms the doctor asked about was loosing weight...

Now is that loosing weight because the cancer is causing it or because you loose your appetite due to tumours or something else making you feel full faster?

I ask because I stress eat, as soon as I am stressed I eat, and obviously this is quite a stressful time, but I stress eat whether I am hungry or stuffed it's completely unlinked to appetite.

So I guess what I am asking is: could stress eating mask loosing weight if the weight loss is connected to the cancer ie.feeding it? Sorry if this is a silly question but it's been bugging me.

  • Hi Calico_Panda and welcome to the forum.

The question you've asked isn't silly, in fact it's a very good question, and I hope this information we have about weight loss under the signs and symptoms of cancer section of our website will give you the answers you seek.

If it would help, we also have a team of cancer nurses you can discuss this with on 0808 800 4040. Although their phones lines will be closed tomorrow, they are usually open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. Our nurses are very knowledgeable, so do give them a call if you'd like to get their thoughts on this and anything else that is playing on your mind.

    Kind regards,
