Peripheral Neuropathy

Hello I have had six of fourteen Kadcyla infusions and had up to now sailed through. However, my toes, feet and lower legs and sometimes my hands feeling tingly and have a burning sensation.

Has anyone experienced this and what can be done to ease the discomfort?

Thank you for reading.

  • Hello Sandradee,

this can be the side effects of this treatment, for some it becomes worse than for others. You need to monitor this and make sure your treatment team are aware if it continues to get progressively worse, given that you are not halfway through your treatment. They then may be able to adjust your infusions accordingly.

We are not all the same and in my case l react strongly to any standard dose of medicine, and as such ended up with permanant neuropathy and what you are feeling currently is my day to day experience.

For most this is temporary but for a small percentage it becomes permanant but set against that, my Cancer did not.

Most likely this is a blip in your journey that will resolve, but your treatment team should be able to advise of measures you can try to help out,

    keep positive

    David

  • Thank you for your reply David. I will tell my cancer treatment team and see what they say.

I also take ibandronic acid which I understand carries this side effects.

    I wish you well.
