Bleeding between periods

Hi everyone.

i apologise if I’ve come to the wrong place but just looking for advice or from someone who has had a similar story.

im 29 and have been having issues with spotting/bleeding. It first started off as spotting after sex, not all the time but most of the time and I just shrugged it off. It wasn’t always fresh blood either more brown. But the last 6 months it’s been a lot more frequent and mostly fresh blood and wasn’t just happening after sex anymore.
I went to the gp who sent me to be tested for an STI but it came back negative. I left it about 2 months again before I went back to the gp as it got worse to the point where 1 day (a week after I had my period) I bled as though I was actually on my period again. She examined me and said everything looked fine and sent me to have bloods done and a scan. My scan is next week but my blood results have come back all ‘borderline’.

one of them was CA125 so obviously I’ve panicked right away but the doctor isn’t ringing me to discuss my results until the 16th April.

When I’ve looked thoroughly though (if I’ve read the results right) it says 17 ku/L which is classed as normal right? So I’m confused as to why it says my results is ‘borderline’ and that I need to speak to a gp to discuss the results

  • Hello mekels96,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat and I hope that you will hear from others here who have a similar story to share. You did the right thing in going to see the GP after you noticed the bleeding and to go back again when it got worse. I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your scan next week and I hope that you will get an explanation soon as to why the bloods came back as borderline. Don't worry too much about the CA125 as, as is  explained on this page, many non cancerous conditions can also raise CA125 levels. The only person who will be able to explain what these results mean is your doctor and it's a shame that you can't discuss results until 16 April. Is there a way you could ask to talk to another doctor to get reassurance and a full explanation from a medical expert as soon as possible?

I hope that you manage to talk to a doctor very soon and that they will be able to tell you more about why your results were marked as borderline.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
