Gastroscopy & Colonoscopy

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone going through this is ok today.

So I had my Gastrocopy and colonoscopy on Saturday just gone where they informed me no cancer was found and had only benign polyps removed and a duodenal tissue biopsy. The report says that 'Removed from Cancer Pathway'.

I was over the moon afterwards that day, but the next day I got a call asking me to book in a CT scan for Monday just gone which I did.

I went from cloud nine back to that familiar weight of worry (I have health anxiety anyway) and still am today.

I'm a bit confused or maybe they want to look for other causes of my anemia? Also is the duodenal tissue biopsy also to look for other causes, given they said I was off the pathway?

Hoping for a follow up outpatient clinic appointment or maybe it will be with my GP?

Thank you all in advance for any help and advice you can offer and let me know how I can help you too.

All the very best wishes.

  • Hello thekingstonwhittler

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns that needed investigation. It's great to know that the gastroscopy and colonoscopy didn't give any immediate cause for concern but I can understand your confusion about the subsequent requested scan.

I can see that you mentioned in another post that you had an appointment with a specialist prior to your scope appointments. Why not call the Consultant's secretary and explain that you're unsure why the CT was requested and whether you will have a further appointment with the specialist. Hopefully, they will be able to give you some answers.

If you're not going to be seeing the specialist again you can go back to your GP to get some answers and reassurance regarding the scan request and the next steps in trying to find a cause for your symptoms.

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope you have some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
