Medical negligence effecting cancer diagnosis

My name is Ryan & I need advice on how to proceed with my condition. My hospital and GP have told me I can say I don't have cancer with confidence but they're refusing to do a biopsy on any mass found in my body. I now have masses pertaining to the right side of my body showing clear signs of metasised cancer but because I had a PET scan come back negative last year they have ignored all my symptoms since. I've filed a complaint and the complaint response showed bias to their results over my ongoing progressive symptoms, I was then told by the complaints team to pass the matter to the PHO, which I have done. My issue is my symptoms aren't slowing down and they won't wait for hospital complaint procedures. I can't afford private healthcare otherwise I would have paid for my own biopsy by now. My life is being wrecklessly endangered, they've put on my record I have health anxiety and despite symptoms progressing they say there's nothing more to investigate.

I tried walking in my A&E to get help and was referred back to my GP instead who booked me yet another appointment with hemotology. This pacemeal approach is killing me. How do I make them treat me with urgency that's required and how do I force them to take a biopsy of one of the masses in my body? I feel like I'm being treated like a criminal or paranoid dillusional and I feel like nobody is going to listen to me unless I was stood on the opposite side of a bridge or did something drastic that forced their attention and it shouldn't have to get to such extent. I seriously need a biopsy and I'm being denied fair and basic diagnostic treatment. How do I handle this before my symptoms become unmanageable?

  • I am so sorry that you are feeling this way.  It must be very difficult, worrying and frustrating for you.

Perhaps you should seek a 2nd opinion.

Others might say it might also be worth thinking about how the medical staff you have seen will  have had many years of training and experience in diagnosing cancer.  The purpose of their job is to diagnose and treat cancer.  Would it be worth unpicking your experience with this in mind?

This situation is obviously causing you a great deal of stress so you might feel like getting some counselling eg Talking Therapies, to help manage your stress and to help you plan how you tackle this situation from here on in.

Good luck and I do hope things work out for you.
