Worried about my sons lymph nodes swollen

Hello everyone,

My son is 12, he has a swollen lymph node in neck for over a month then he noticed another one a bit further down the neck that's become swollen. Gp sent him for ultrasound. Ultrasound report stated the swollen lymph node was 0.5 cm and benign characteristics but they found he has multiple cysts in his thyroid with increased blood flow. Gp said the scan was satisfactory. Today he has noticed another lymph node swollen on back on neck. He has no cold symptoms, gp checked ears, chest and throat all clear. Is this a sign of anything or am I overthinking

Thanks you for reading

  • Hi Sammy565 and welcome to the forum.

It's good to hear that the ultrasound your son had has shown he's o.k, although I'm sorry to hear he's found another swollen lymph node on the back of his neck.

Unfortunately no-one here can tell you what this means, only a GP can, so if you're worried it would be best to go back to the GP to get this checked, if only for peace of mind.

We've had quite a few posts on the forum recently from other parents who are in a similar situation with their children, so you are not alone Sammy, and I hope you receive some support and advice from them soon.

We're thinking of you both and will have our fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    Kind regards,
