Does this sound right ? Lung nodule monitoring

Hi

I am very confused and wondered if anyone had the same as this. I had a lung nodule picked up on a CT scan when I had emergency Gallbladder removal.  I wasn't told about it at the time but received an appointment for another CT scan three months later.  I was then told a second nodule had appeared and they thought it was cancer.

I was then sent for a PET/CT scan.  In the follow up appointment they said they didn't think it was cancer but couldn't rule it out so they would monitor and follow up in 12 months. Then in December I received an appointment to see an Oncologist in July. I've not had a follow up CT scan appointment yet.

My question is .. is it normal to see an Oncologist anyway and for it to be booked 7 months in advance?

Has anyone had this situation?  I'm so confused.

Thanks

  • Hi Elisabeth,

I can understand your questions and concerns about this. It is very difficult to advise on this, but it may be worth giving your doctor a call to try to get some more information. As the appointment is still a bit of a wait away, it may help to speak to someone in the meantime.

You are also welcome to give our nurses a call if you would like to talk things through with one of them. You can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Otherwise, if others here have similar experience to share then hopefully they'll see your post and send a reply.

    Wishing you all the best,
