Scared I have cancer again

Hi I had breast cancer twice in 2015 and 2019.When I had treatment in 2015 I was 48 and oncologist said I'd probably go into menopause which I did so haven't had a period since then .However at the end of Jan I started slightly bleeding and cramps,my smear test was due so went for that and that came back clear .

GP sent me to hospital 2 weeks ago  for an ultrasound and they did a biopsy that day too . Ultrasound showed lining of womb at 30mm which since reading up on is thicker than should be.The doctor the said they'd arrange a hysteroscopy but I've not had that appointment through yet .I've been bleeding slightly and cramps about 3/4 times a week and wondering when I'll hear about results or should call them .I'm really praying that it's not cancer but all symptoms seem to be pointing that way .

  • Hi Limpetscrush48,

It's completely understandable that you are feeling so worried after having had cancer twice before. I think it wouldn't hurt to call them and try and find out more and I hope that you will get the results very soon.

Fingers crossed they get to the bottom of what is causing this bleeding 3/4 times a week. It is normal to worry about cancer especially after everything you've been through but try if you can not to draw any conclusions from the symptoms you are experiencing as there are many other things that could explain these other than cancer.

There's nothing harder than having to wait for a diagnosis and I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that you get some clarity soon and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,

  • Oh bless you sweetheart..  did they bring on menopause for you as in the injections zoladex ???  Whilst you were going through breast cancer.... and was you having chemotherapy?? Just I was told that it could temporary and after couple of years periods can return if your body doesn't go into menopause completely... still totally terrifying as after not having them for ages and completely justified worrying.. and definitely chase them up certainly won't hurt asking... its awful being in limbo and not knowing.  I do hope you get some answers soon.  Xx

  • I'm so sorry.  Only just seen this after I replied.  Sending you all the love in the world.  You can beat it... your a strong person.  We're all here for you xxxxx
