I've been experiencing symptoms and am now on the 2 week pathway for testing for bowel cancer. I don't know what to expect and feeling a little out of my depth
Hi, I was referred onto the 2 week cancer pathway for the same thing. My GP referred me for a chest x-ray (long-term cough), a colonoscopy and a CT scan (chest, abdomen and pelvis). I had my chest x-ray yesterday and I have a colonoscopy tomorrow, so today has been staying at home to go through the prep. (The prep isn't nice, but it's 100% necessary. I took on tips such as having a lemon sweet in my mouth whilst I drank the prep through a straw). I admit I have been worried about it as my daughter and granddaughter depend on me. Thank you for your reply, I've just had a phone call for a phone consultation next week but unsure what happens next. I've had a colonoscopy before, it's just the process of what happens afterwards do they tell you immediately if they find anything or is it a waiting game again
I can't be sure as this is my first colonoscopy! I think I've broken the world record for the most trips to the toilet in one day! I thought the nurse said they would tell me the same day? But I might be wrong x
I've had 2 and one of the first things they said on both occasions was if we find anything suspicious we will tell you ,they did this right at the end when they take you into an office before you leave ,there were quite a few that day waiting to be informed afterwards ,I suppose some hospitals do it differently but this was the procedure .
