Endometrial Cancer

  1. Hello , I am 64 . Yesterday I had a transvaginal scan as I have been having post menopausal bleeding . This morning I had a call from my GP telling me they were referring me to gynaecology on the 2 week pathway as the scan revealed thickening of the endometrium . I need to now have a hysteroscopy . She said it was an urgent cancer referral . I wasn't expecting the results so quickly . I have had a good cry , pulled up my big girls pants and am bracing myself .
  2. Simultaneously I have been having dreadful pain that is radiating from my right hip , down through my leg . I have had an xray and im awaiting the results.  I've had an appt with the physio,  she is of the opinion that the two things aren't connected but I'm not so sure . Has anyone had any leg pain with a diagnosis of endometrial cancer .
  3. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences . I hope all are well

  • Hi, I understand how you are feeling, I am awaiting hysteroscopy on Monday under General as I am 60 and have had a couple of pink discharge and slight cramping to left side. I have often wondered if over the years urine infections and blood in urine has actually been the onset of this if turns out to be C. Its scarey. I havent had pain in the legs but if we start putting every ailment or pain and ache it would always come up as C in google search. My womb thickness is 14MM. Have you had a date for your hysteroscopy? what did your xray say? i had ultraound which showed my womb lining 14mm.  Waiting and wondering is awful x

  • Hello  thankyou for your reply.Im trying not to overthink it . Like you say google is not a friend sometimes lol .

I have a hysteroscopy appointment this coming Monday , fairly quick . I'm dreading it tbh .

I haven't had the results of my hip xray back .

Hope your hysteroscopy goes ok . I have just been told to take paracetamol so fingers crossed .Despite having 3 children with no epidural back in the day it doesn't get any easier

My ultrasound results were 5.3mm and some fluid

I bled quite heavily during and after which was a bit of a shock ..

Good luck , hope it all turns out OK for both of us .

Let me know how you get on . Take care .

  • Hi Tina

do you take HRT? It could be polyps or fibroids?

Try not to worry, at least you will get answers on Thursday and know what’s going on!

Sending love and positive vibes xxxc

  • Hi Alexis

good news - still have to wait for biopsy result but Dr said saw nothing suspicious and therefore thinks it’s HRT related!
    Relief!

  • Tina

thats fantastic news! So pleased for you, sure the biopsy will be fine. Did they do the procedure where they fill the womb with fluid then?

I have stopped using my HRT patches. Decided to about a week ago. It’s not that I get major symptoms like hot flashes or anything. Dr at hospital said my gp should have reviewed annually rather than just keep prescribing them!  She said they don’t normally think women aged 60 should be on it.

how long until the biopsy results?

  • Hi Tina

    any update?

    Alexis x x

  • Hi. Please don't Google any symptoms. I got myself stressed to my eyeballs. Ended up taking panic attacks, losing weight. Etc.  honestly the fear I had was unreal. I had all symptoms and ended being othing suspicious.  Surgeon not worried at all. I'm just waiting for confirmation letter 7 weeks later !!. I'm sure it will turn up anyday.  Yes they have to investigate and my polyp didn't even sho on my ultrasound . They took it out while having hysteroscopy . Anyways take care and don't stress and don't Google !!

  • I had all the symptoms and worried myself sick.dont Google anything related to this. Luckily I'm ok. Surgeon who did hysteroscopy saw nothing suspicious apart from 5 mm polyp which was removed.x hang in there !!

  • I had 2 ultrascans and a hysteroscopy last Friday after being referred by my GP on the suspected endometrial cancer pathway. After reading everyone's posts I wish I'd asked for some results there and then but was under the impression that they wouldn't be able to give me any immediate information. I'm sure like everyone else it seems unbearable waiting to be contacted with results!

  • I guess it depends on the surgeon who did it. Our surgeon came around to everyone after and told us that there was nothing suspicious and we would get confirmation letter in about 5 to 6 weeks. We are all still waiting X try not to worry and fingers crossed for you. Xxx

  • We are all trusting the surgeon. They kinda know what they are looking at so I guess we just b e to trust the process and after 9 weeks waiting. I don't stress anymore x

  • Hi. I finally got my results yesterday. Benign!!  All good. Hang in there and trust the process. Sending wishes to you xx
