Endometrial Cancer

  1. Hello , I am 64 . Yesterday I had a transvaginal scan as I have been having post menopausal bleeding . This morning I had a call from my GP telling me they were referring me to gynaecology on the 2 week pathway as the scan revealed thickening of the endometrium . I need to now have a hysteroscopy . She said it was an urgent cancer referral . I wasn't expecting the results so quickly . I have had a good cry , pulled up my big girls pants and am bracing myself .
  2. Simultaneously I have been having dreadful pain that is radiating from my right hip , down through my leg . I have had an xray and im awaiting the results.  I've had an appt with the physio,  she is of the opinion that the two things aren't connected but I'm not so sure . Has anyone had any leg pain with a diagnosis of endometrial cancer .
  3. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences . I hope all are well
  • Hi Tina

Good to hear from you and glad you have an appointment now. Hopefully we will both be fine and it will put our minds at rest. I have no idea why some go for ultrasound and some hysteroscopy. Guess it’s down to the hospital. I thought mine would be an ultrasound scan but guess they can take biopsy whilst doing the hysteroscopy? I have decided to stop my HRT as don’t think I really need it, as no major symptoms of menopause. I’ve been on it years so will see what they say next week.

I hope you feel better now you have an appointment and get to enjoy your week off too!

  • Hi Tina. My appointment has been brought forward to today. Glad to get it done but naturally worried and anxious at the same time. I’ll let you know how it goes . Hope you are doing ok? I did reply to your message but can’t see it on here so perhaps it didn’t post? Xxx

  • Hi Alexis

i did see your reply thanks. That is good news - I really hope it goes OK today. Will be thinking of you. Let me know how it goes.
    Best wishes

  • Hi Tina

The hysteroscopy went well, the Dr was lovely and explained that she would do the internal scan of my womb and if the lining was thin as it should be for ladies post menopause, she probably wouldn’t need to do anything else. If it showed any thickening or she could see anything else, they fill the womb with fluid and carry out further investigation/biopsy.
The internal scan of my womb was painless (I took 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen an hour before). She confirmed womb lining was thin and there was no need to carry out any further investigation. So l clear “womb wise”!  I’m so relieved, I can’t tell you . Let me know how you get on Thursday, sure all will be good! Hope it’s reassured you.

  • Oh Alexis I am so pleased for you! You must be so relieved. As to painkillers did you take both parcetemol and ibuprofen together an hour before? Do you have to any further tests?
I am still bleeding quite heavily and am bloated with pain in stomach and pelvis so really am wanting to know what the problem is and hopefully get it resolved.

Will let you know on Thursday how it goes. Enjoy your evening and the rest of your week off!

  • Hi Tina

do you take HRT? It could be polyps or fibroids?

Try not to worry, at least you will get answers on Thursday and know what’s going on!

Sending love and positive vibes xxxc

  • Hi Alexis

good news - still have to wait for biopsy result but Dr said saw nothing suspicious and therefore thinks it’s HRT related!
    Relief!

thats fantastic news! So pleased for you, sure the biopsy will be fine. Did they do the procedure where they fill the womb with fluid then?

I have stopped using my HRT patches. Decided to about a week ago. It’s not that I get major symptoms like hot flashes or anything. Dr at hospital said my gp should have reviewed annually rather than just keep prescribing them!  She said they don’t normally think women aged 60 should be on it.

how long until the biopsy results?
