Hi all I am quite worried about a lump I have on my labia.
About a month ago I noticed a small lump and didn't pay attention to it I thought it was a spot or something coming up. I checked it again a few days ago and it's there easily visible, black/purple inside about half the size of a pea roughly. It is a perfectly symmetrical dome shaped growth, it has a frosty looking layer/s skin over it.
I immediately thought of a blood blister, but I as me and my partner have had them we are really thinking it is not as it's not at all moving inside. I did an image search on Google and it immediately came up as nodular melanoma.
I searched through some posts and have seen men and women being diagnosed with it and it can be aggressive and severe so I am scared. Some women are being diagnosed in similar areas and on the labia.
Today I went to see my GP and she fobbed me off and said it looks like a ingrown hair. With all due respect I hope it is but my partner has seen my ingrown hairs and he said absolutely not unless it's 6 inches wrapped up inside. After trying to explain to the GP she sent me on my way and called it a pin head sized growth and she assumes a hair inside on my NHS app(she said she could see a hair to me in the dr's) my partner has said there is nothing resembles a hair in there he's looked with powerful torch. I asked him to look closer and see if he can get the "hair" out and was against it and is scared but he tried for me with a sterile pin.i know I definitely shouldn't be doing this but I feel like I need to try. He said he put a tiny scratch on the surface and I was in pain the tiniest bit of blood came onto the scratch. He said the skin protecting this growth is very very tough and there is absolutely no way he is forcing something in there.
It hurts with a gentle squeeze.
He is trying to "make me" to see a privately dermatologist which I'm trying to say not to worry but he has said in the unfortunate likelihood that it could be (nodular melanoma) it's very aggressive and would not in anyway be worth waiting and waiting for what exactly for a GP to say it's nothing.
Spending a £1000 on an appointments is affordable for us and he said better safe than sorry.
I don't think I can post photos but the abcde method apparently isn't good for this potential illness but the E F G rule which is about elevation and firm.
Please could someone give me some advice on what my next should be and of course not to be touching or prodding it.
Many thanks Lyn
