Scared i have thyroid cancer

so since about October  last year i havent been t well with stomach issues in and out of the doctors this made me very hypersensitive to everything , one night i was unable to sleep started to feel my neck and i found a lump on the left side just under my collarbone ive had a ultrasound and a follow call from my gp who informed me that its a T3 thyroid nodule and that they want to referee me for biopsy of it which states argent cancer suspected , i just feel really lost at the moment and dont know, what to do for a little peace of mind and was hoping someone could share some knowledge that would help my understanding of the situation thank you.

  • Hey, I had thyroid cancer five years ago and firstly, the odds are probably that you don't. Thyoid nodules are common. Thyroid cancer is (comparatively) rare. About 5% or 10% of the nodules biopsied turn out to be cancer. The majority are not. But there's no way of knowing until they biopsy.

And even if you do, thyroid cancer isn't exactly what you might be imagining when you hear the word "cancer." It has a very high survival rate - I think it's over 99% in under 45s - and they don't usually use chemo or any ongoing treatments. Most likely, they would just remove your thyroid.
