Worry

Hello all, I have been recently having severe stomach cramps along with blood in my stool (a lot of blood). This has been going on around a month now. I went to the drs and completed the q-fit and it came back with a result of 400, which is very high. Having seen that, the Dr sent me straight to the hospital. Whilst there, I had blood tests that came back relatively normal and a normal urine sample. I was also given a ct scan with contrast, and there was no thickening of the colon wall that could be seen. They have ruled out any infection or inflammation in the bowel.

'm now awaiting a colonoscopy, which is just over 2 weeks away. I'm absolutely terrified of what will be found and really struggling. I've been unable to eat or sleep and find myself bursting into tears. I'm really struggling to deal with the worry and the possible outcome and unsure how i can do this for another 2 weeks. I'd really like to speak to someone in the same boat as Google has made things a lot worse

  • Hello Davey21,

I'm sorry to hear how you're feeling. Going through tests can be a nerve-wracking time, but it's encouraging that your previous tests came back normal.

When you’re worried that you may have cancer, it can be natural to think the worst or look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor. It's important at the this time to leave google alone and focus on other things for the sake of your wellbeing. We do have information around the colonoscopy test on our website. Hopefully this will give you a better idea of what will happen.

I hope this is helpful in some way and that your next appointment goes ok,
