Staying calm

I have just been seen by my G.P in regards to a lump I have had for almost 3 weeks.  It is not in my armpit but an inch or so into the top of my arm. I only noticed it when brushing my hair in front of the mirror, I hadn't any pain.

On examination it was tender and painful [ which I hadn't experienced before]

The G.P sent me for bloods [ within medical centre]  made a referral for an Ultrasound along with one for Orthopaedic Consultant.

I have a telephone consultation on Wednesday with my Colorectal Consultant in regards to a Colonoscopy [ 6 biopsies] done 17.12.24. I am asthmatic and was told by a G.P in the practice [ not the one I saw today]  'I don't think your breathlessness,  cough and pain are asthma related, I think you have bowel cancer '

So as you can imagine it has been a  long 10 week wait for results and I  wasn't expecting the response from the G.P today... it was the referral to Orthopaedics that is concerning..

  • I'm sorry to hear about the lump on your arm Eastendgirl, and that you've been referred to orthopaedics to get it checked out.

I know how tough things have been for you over the last few months and I'm sure this being added in to the equation isn't helping but whatever happens I hope you can take some comfort from knowing that we will be here for you, now and always.

I'm sure some of our members will offer their support to you soon as well but in the meantime, be kind to yourself Eastendgirl and if you can, continue to stay calm.

We're thinking of you and wishing you all the best with your colonoscopy results on Wednesday.

    Kind regards,
