10mm sessile serrated polyp near appendix

Hi I'm a 58 year old female who had a small amount of blood in my poo back in January. I went to the doctors and examined. The doctor organised a blood and fit test.

the bloods came back normal and my fit test was a score of seven this is classed as negative. I explained that my mother had bowel cancer and had part of her bowel removed in her late seventies. The doctor said I was at low risk but because I keep getting discomfort in my bowels and the family history she thought best to refer me.

Any way on Monday I had a colonoscopy and they found a 10mm sessile serrated polyp near my appendix. They couldn't remove it there and then. so I have been told the team will discuss my case and get back to me with what will happen next. I do get I kind of stich feeling where my appendix is. I'm starting to worry about how long I am going to wait for the next steps. any one else been hear?

  • Hi sheadstream,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear that those results came back normal, although I can understand your worries and I appreciate the ongoing uncertainty must be difficult.

Usually you would be given some idea of how long to expect to wait to hear more. If you haven't heard anything within a few weeks, perhaps you could call the hospital to enquire further.

In the meantime, hopefully you'll get some more replies to your post here, particularly if others with similar experience see it. You can also search the forum for other discussions and people to connect with, if you'd like to.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
