Quick results from biopsy - scared

I’m 23 and have been tested for thyroid cancer. had a biopsy last week and was told I would get the results within 2-3 weeks. I had a call 6 days later telling me I had a face to face appointment booked for me in 2 days at half 4. I’ve been reading all sorts about  how the time can be a give away for a bad result as well as the speeds they call you back in? I was also told at my initial ultra sound that whatever has been growing has spread to various places in my neck so I’m panicking a bit.

Can anyone share their experience with results- either to prepare me or put my mind at ease? Thank you x

  • Hello, and just wish to reassure you that because your results have been quick, this is NOT an indication that things are bad for you.  The waiting is awful isn't it?  But you will soon know your results, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.  Good luck.

  • Update: unfortunately I have it but so grateful it’s very treatable with surgery and radiation therapy :)

  • Sorry to hear you have thyroid cancer.

Did they say radiation therapy or radioiodine therapy? The two things are very different. Radioiodine therapy is just swallowing a capsule. It's usually a one-off and is a bit annoying because you have to be in isolation after it, but isn't painful or anything.

I had thyroid cancer five years ago and while nobody ever wants any form of cancer, it is one of the...least worst options. I was back at work a month after my operation and have had no real problems since except for some numbness around the scar.
