Bile duct cyst

Hello everyone,

my father has been in and out of hospital since Christmas, originally with pancreatitis. He’s had 2x ct scans MRCP and X-rays and countless blood tests. He’s also had bouts of jaundice and an infection that lead to sepsis.

he has a rare cyst called a type 1A choledochal cyst, which we believe is causing all these issues, the surgery is too complicated and he’s 73 so they don’t want to take it out. The morphine has stopped working for him and he’s lost 2 stone in weight he’s not got an appetite the whole thing has been incredibly hard to watch. The only issue is the longer you leave these cysts the higher chance of them being nasty (bile duct cancer)

after his last hospital admission 3 weeks ago, he’s been discussed at the MDT hpb meeting in Edinburgh and we have an appointment with a professor tomorrow.

Am I preparing for the worst? What questions should I be asking? We don’t know what we are going into

Wish us luck
