Should i be worried?

I’m 25 (in april) and recently had a smear which came back as HPV positive but needed repeating as they didnt get enough cells to check for the abnormality part - i had the repeat last tuesday.

i have symptoms like; pain in the left side of my abdomen, bleeding inbetween periods, weight loss (i was a size 12/14 in november, and now some size 10 is loose) and i feel absolutely knackered.

im worried that even if the smear for cervical cancer comes back clear, i may have some underlying other gynaecological cancer and i don’t know how to relay this to my GP so that they take me seriously.

i have a 2 year old, and i am ABSOLUTELY terrified of having something incurable, worried to the point of having anxiety attacks and not sleeping right.

should i be worried?

  • Hello,

I think you are doing exactly what you should by being proactive about your health. If you aren’t satisfied with whatever the test results are, tell your doctor just what you said above. Believe me, they are used to hearing our concerns about these matters. I had severe health anxiety and had to write everything down and then go over it with my doctor. If I forget something, I’d call their office and talk to the nurse about it.
