Gastritis

I was diagnosed last August on upper endoscopy with mild Gastritis. No biopsies were taken at the time. I was given 2 months supply of Lansoprazole and no follow up appointment and signed back to my GP.

I have had consistent symptoms of pressure under my left rib, knawing pain, nausea. The pains are constant. I am wondering if mild gastritis can progress into something more sinister within 7 months.

  • I had a endoscopy and was diagnosed with gastritis,12 months later  I have full blown cancer which had already spread to my bones and is terminal, see your GP don’t wait like I did

  • Have you had an ultrasound? I would follow up with GP. Cancer is hopefully a huge leap from where you are currently with mild gastritis, but further testing wouldn’t help

I too recently had lots of testing for GI issues. I came off all my PPIs and feel so much better. Have you been tested for h pylori?

  • That is some leap in 12 months! Where is your primary cancer? How did they eventually find it? Sorry to read, I hope you stay well for a long time.

  • I have a malignant tumour at the bottom of my oesophagus where it meets the top of my tummy this was discovered at the endoscopy.I was originally told they didn’t know where the primary cancer was but the fluid in my tummy was from a secondary cancer and that it had already spread to my bones.I couldn’t believe so much had happened in 12 months.

I am well at the moment have just had a break from treatment for several months but I am about to go back on treatment, but I’m hoping to be around for a while longer.

  • The CT scan I had didn’t show the primary cancer but I was told the fluid in my tummy was from a secondary cancer and it had already spread to my bones,I had an endoscopy which showed a malignant tumour at the bottom of my oesophagus and top of my tummy. It was devastating to be given that news.

12 months previously I had a endoscopy which said I had gastritis and no signs of cancer.

I have had several months break from treatment but I’m about to go back on to treatment ,I am hoping for the best and plan on being around for a while longer

  • That is crazy that your initial endo was clear, that is very fast. What symptoms were you having to make you keep pushing for answers? I hope you stay well through treatment.

  • I went to see the doctor because I had a hardness on either side of my tummy which I knew wasn’t right, she took bloods and sent me for CT scan,I didn’t feel unwell but I had problems with my swallowing for awhile and food getting stuck and making me sick.
