Hi
Hope everyone is doing well x
I had a USS, mammogram and core biopsy nearly 3 weeks ago and I'm a little confused by events since, just wondered if anyone had anything similar.
I found a lump just by my nipple which I could grab hold of and move, I'd only checked as I'd been having pain in my breast and under my armpit for a little while. I saw the GP who referred me under the 2 weeks referral, however this referral got lost so I ended up going private at a One Stop Breast Clinic. The consultant was very sure it was likely a fibroadenoma but because I'm 40 they did a mammogram which didn't show anything of concern. Then when I had the USS, the scanner said although she didn't think it was anything nasty, they wanted to do a core biopsy to check if it was papilloma. At the end of the biopsy the consultant popped her head round the door, asked how it was going and then said, ok great, as thought then, I'll call you in 5 days with the results and to discharge you. Fast forward to around 12 days later, I called to see whether there were any results, the medical secretary then said they'd discussed me on Friday but as the full report wasn't back, they'd wait for that and then write to me. I was pretty pleased and said oh a letter, ok great so sounds positive, she then said I can't discuss anything with you, we'll send the letter and then I'll call you to discuss next steps.
I'm confused as the process is different to what I was first told, I'm not panicking yet, I'm guessing it's just maybe a difference in opinions on what the process is. I guess I'm just putting this out there to see whether anyone had been seen at a private hospital, and if they knew whether the letter process is standard.
(sorry for the rambling message)!
