Endometrium 8mm

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone can help. I had a scan back in June last year, it came back

Mild heterogenous appearance of retroverted uterus.

The endometrium measures 8 mm and contains 2 x tiny (1 - 2 mm) hyperechoic heterogenous areas within the endometrium. No vascularity demonstrated.

Appearances could be polyps.

Both ovaries are normal in size but contain multiple tiny peripheral cysts in keeping with

PCO. Collapsing follicle noted left ovary.

they referred me to the gynaecologist, and prepped was sorted for me to have laparoscopy and hysterectomy.
yesterday they done the laparoscopy on me and all come back okay which is great however I am worried they have missed the endometrium measuring 8mm and can they see this through the laparoscopy, or do I still need a hysterectomy. As anything over 5mm in the endometrium is abnormal .
hope this makes sense, I just feel like my notes aren’t adding up

thanks

  • Hello Simba1

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns that needed further investigation. It's good to hear that the laparoscopy didn't raise any issues although I can understand why you're feeling anxious about the potential need for a hysterectomy.

Do you have a follow-up booked with the gynaecology team? Hopefully, they will be able to answer your questions and give you some reassurance. If not then do get back in touch with your GP for some clarification about things. They will be able to follow this up for you if further investigation or treatment is needed.

I hope that you can get some clarification and reassurance Simba1.

    Best wishes,
