Axilla Mass

I saw my doctor yesterday after 6 weeks of a painful lump in my armpit, night sweats, fatigue with no obvious illness.
she had a feel and said she doesn’t know what it is, she can feel it’s rubbery and lumpy. I’ve had bloods done today and I’m being referred to ultrasound urgently. I said I was worried about it being cancer and she said we will have to see what the ultrasound shows but a biopsy is the next step if it shows something other than a cyst.
I’m not sure what I’m saying or asking, has anyone had similar? Is it true if there’s pain then it’s not cancer? I’m really worried about this.

It sounds like you’re in a challenging situation, and it’s completely understandable to feel worried and uncertain. While it’s not uncommon to have concerns during this time, remember that many people here have had similar experiences and can offer support and understanding.
As for your question, pain isn’t always an indicator of whether something is cancerous or not. Lumps can vary greatly in their cause, and a healthcare professional will be able to guide you through the necessary steps to find out more. It’s good that you're having the ultrasound and any follow-up tests, as these will help give a clearer picture.
