USC referral

Hello all,

I have just got back from the doctors where they confirmed they felt some lumps with one larger than the others in one of my breasts. They said it is likely benign but I have been referred under a USC referral and now I’m worried they were underplaying the seriousness of the situation. Are all referrals for additional checks (ultrasounds and mammograms) put down as USC referrals or is there a less urgent code used?

  • Hi CRL and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry to hear about the lumps that have been found in your breasts and for the worry your USC referral is causing.

I hope this information we have about urgent suspected cancer referrals will put your mind at ease but to get the answer to the specific question you've asked in your post, it would be best to give our team of cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all that they can to help.

So many of our members have been through this process CRL, so you are not alone, and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon.

We're wishing you all the best with your referral CRL and will have our fingers crossed the lumps are no cause for concern.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
