Endo or cancer?

hey I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this as I am feeling stuck and alone. I’m 26, female, I’ve always suspected I may have endo, but getting a diagnoses has felt impossible as I’ve had terrible experiences with docs over the years.

I have abdominal pain, pelvic pain, heavy periods, pain during sex, severe fatigue etc. however about a year ago my symptoms started to get worse and I started to get random bleeding in between periods, this increased to at least a week of bleeding before a period. I went to doc’s, had ultrasound, came back that I had an ovarian cyst. told to wait for a second scan. was told the cyst had now gone. also told possible suspected endo.

however for 5 months now my bleeding has increased. around 3 weeks straight every month. I bleed every day, constantly. brown, red & pink blood. heaviness varies..

I recently learned that my gran had cervical cancer so now I am concerned by my worsening symptoms. I feel hopeless and I’m so exhausted from dealing with the constant pains & discomfort and being provided no medical support other than waiting lists

I’ve been waiting for gynaecologist appt for 5 months now, but I wanted to know if anyone can recommend anything I can do or ask for in the meantime as I’m so stressed with worry

  • A very warm welcome to the forum Oliveo, although I'm really sorry to hear about your symptoms and that you're still waiting for a gynaecology appointment.

This must be very stressful but I hope you can take some strength, and comfort, from knowing that our members are here for you Oliveo and hopefully you will receive some support and advice from them soon.

If you haven't done so already, you could let the gynaecology department know you're willing to take any cancellations that pop up. This has had varied success for our members so there's no guarantee it will get you seen sooner, but there's no harm in trying.

In the meantime, if you'd like to discuss your situation further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

We're sending you all our support Oliveo and hope your appointment comes through soon.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi

I had a similar thing a couple of years ago. I always struggled with pain and heavy periods but it was getting worse and worse, then pain on one side all the time. Ultrasounds showed a cyst. I also had a long wait to actually seen the gynaecologist and in the meantime the bleeding got worse and worse. I eventually did go to the GP and they were able to prescribe something short term to stop the bleeding (I had been bleeding for one month straight by then, heavy).

I would make an appointment at your GP to see if there's anything they can do to help you.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis in the end, by the way. The cyst was an edometrioma. The doctor recommended I get the Mirena Coil, which I did, and after a few months I stopped getting periods and very little pain.
