CA-125 Results

Hello,

I recently had a blood test and my CA markers should be below 35 units they are at 47.

I have lost a lot of weight due to not being able to eat full meals, this has been going on for months.

My friend said I looked a little yellow and I was short of breath so thought I may be iron deficient again. I went to have my blood tests and my tumor markers were significantly high. The doctor is aware that I have  endometriosis and there is a hemorrhagic cyst still present on the right ovary.

I had one operation in 2020 and I was referred to a Endo specialist, a Liver specialist as I have a hyplasia on my liver and a bowel specialist as endometriosis is all over my bowel too.

Covid happened and I couldn't get the op and when I finally got offered the operation and got dumped the day I was supposed to be taken in.

I have always suffered with bloat but not this full feeling and my bowel movements have been loose and can fluctuate between hard and loose in the past but mainly for a few months they have been loose.

I've had trouble sleeping not because of worry just struggle with insomnia for nearly a year and have been given zopiclone to help.

I've not had a scan since 2020 on my pelvic area.

I'm trying to stay positive and I'm conscious that I had bloods done last year and urine samples and protein and blood was present in my urine but nothing showed in my bloods.

I'm trying to piece together that if I had bloods last year and my CA levels weren't at an alarming rate to suggest malignancy so if it shows the presence of that now and it is what I'm dreading is this a positive sign that it's early stages?

I'm trying to be real and also trying not to think the worst. I want to be positive and gather information and try my best to be prepared.

Thank you for reading this ️

  • HelloLisahTee,

    Thank you for posting.

I can understand that you are worried about cancer and want to feel prepared, but it's important not to overthink things as it can have an impact on your wellbeing. We more information on our website around tests for ovarian cancer and the CA125 test, which is not the most reliable test as it can show raised levels in people with endometriosis or fibroids. It might be a good idea to go back to your doctor if you're concerned about your symptoms and they may be able to investigate further.

    I hope this helps,

  • Thank you Anastasia for getting back to me.

I have an ultrasound tomorrow on my pelvic area.

I have already been diagnosed with Stage 4 endometriosis.

My concern is I had bloods done last year and it signified low folate.

    No CA-125 markers present

This year I have been for a blood test thinking I have low folate again to be told my Ca markers are at 47 so would this have flagged up throughout the years if it was my endometriosis?

Thank you for your reassurance and taking the time to respond to me.

Initially I feel it is a worry but trying to take things as they come.
