Lump on back neck

Hi there, any advice would be greatly appreciated

I’m a 24 year old female nurse. Had lots of tonsil issues growing up and in general immune system was weaker. Was a competitive swimmer, Picked up tonsillitis off a common cold constantly and into adulthood either covid with tonsillitis on the back, picked up Covid 7 times already! Or my tonsillitis has at least past 5 times in year  has had a sinus or chest infection on the bback of it

February 2024 I noticed a small swelling in back on my neck at the right hand side. Not painful, went to gp to be told there wasn’t much there and could hardly feel it. As I’m a nurse whether it’s something or not I’m aware there is difference on one side of my neck compare to the other. Bloods done and normal

went to ENT appointment and on waiting list for tonsillectomy. Told Ent about lump, confirmed it was a palpable mass on the back of my neck

in last two months, I have felt pain in my neck. Night sweats and having to get up and change Pajamas. Tiredness I’ve always put down to work. Sometimes not always pain but pins and needles as I can feel if someone has touched it or moved it

looking for advice. I know I should go back to gp but don’t want to get told there is nothing there again

  • Hello FR2001hotel

I'm sorry to hear about all the ongoing problems that you've had with your tonsils and general immune system over the years. Hopefully when you have the tonsillectomy things will improve for you.

It's understandable that you're anxious about this lump that you've mentioned. Although you've already had it looked at by the GP and ENT team, as you've since developed some new symptoms it's certainly worth making another appointment with your GP to get it checked again. Hopefully, they will be able to offer you some reassurance but if further tests are needed they will be able to arrange those for you.

Hopefully, you will have some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
