Lower back ache. Abdominal Mass lower right side

I’m so glad I found this forum as I’ve been feeling sick with anxiety since I saw my GP yesterday. I’ve been given a referral for next week to investigate this mass, possible cyst, fibroids or cancer. Have been unable to get past worrying it’s cancer. The mass is 8cm by 2cm which has really frightened me. Dr said it could be scar tissue or anything. Any tips on coping with the anxiety. Not slept and can’t eat with worry. I’m 54 post menopausal and have had bleeding off and on but not any real pain.
sorry message is a bit disjointed my brain is all over the place. Xx

  • Welcome to the forum, Sarah_V.
It’s completely understandable to feel overwhelmed and anxious with everything going on, especially when you’re waiting for answers. Please know you're not alone,  many of our members have been through similar experiences, and this space is here for support.
When it comes to coping with the anxiety, try to take things one step at a time. Focusing on what you can control, like getting through each day, may help bring some relief. Some find grounding exercises or mindfulness techniques helpful for managing worry, even though it’s not easy. Sleep can be tricky under these circumstances, but sometimes just resting, even if you can’t sleep, can help a little bit.
If you ever feel like talking or need to vent, we’re all here for you. Take care, and remember you’re doing your best.
    Kind regards,

  • Thankyou so much for taking the time to give me some sound advice. I’m taking each day as I can and trying to keep my mind busy with work which is helping.
I’ve also been in touch with my GP who also explained a few things which have settled me a lot. I’m so glad I rang her.
I’ll take on board your advice and wait for the next steps. Xxxx
