Endoscopy results graded & malignancy?

Hello,

Looking to hear others experiences of endoscopy results please if anyone would be happy to share.

Our world was rocked this week when dad had an endoscopy & the report detailed a 6cm tumour plus another smaller growth nearby. The report graded the tumour as a 2 (cells look different) but the words malignant were also used. Biopsies were taken but these results are not yet in & he has a referral for a CT scan in a weeks time.

How can an endoscopy report detail grading & malignancy without the biopsy results? Has anyone else experienced this?

Recent bloods were all normal but hes had issues with swallowing & digesting food for a couple of months.

I feel we need to wait for the other test results & not take the endoscopy results at face value just yet, but then part of me wonders if im wishful thinking. Any slight chance of hope is still hope & if the other results arent back yet I want to keep that hope.

  • Hi Blessings2505,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with this uncertainty, I'm sure this must be difficult and I hope you're getting on OK.

I can see you have also posted in the 'Ask the Nurses' section of this forum, so you'll receive a reply from one of our nurses soon, which may provide some insight for you.

As you say, waiting for all the results will mean you get the answers you need, and you'll then have an opportunity to talk things through as well.

I hope you hear more soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Thank you, it seems back to front to me to diagnose cancer without all the information & it just adds to the worry & uncertainty waiting.
