I am currently on 2 week pathway to rule on tonsil cancer. Worried sick and would like to talk to people who've experienced this about my symptoms. Not expecting answers but need to talk to somebody!
I have had one tonsil larger than other for about 5 years, never had it checked before but have a history of ENT issues such as postnasal drip and vasomotor rhinitis. I have also had a raised lymphnode on same side of neck for years, had that checked a long time ago and was clear.
In last 3 months I started with a strange head cold which resulted in dry mouth, metallic taste, scabs in nostrils. I have been experiencing rumbling/thudding sound in ear where swollen tonsil is as well as discomfort around my neck area and some throat down that side which hadn't clear.
Went to GP who chalked it down to rhinitis, month later hadn't cleared so went privately for ENT consultation. He said I had unilateral enlarged tonsil with firmness when touched abd swollen lymphnode and referred me to NHS pathway he said it could ve a stone, chronic inflammation or cancer! My GP said he wasn't concerned. Having tests at moment and so scared.
I'm 33 smoked for 10 years, gave up 6 years ago. Drank in my 20s but not in recent years...
Would love to chat to someone- thank you!
