FIT TEST

I’m 36 yr old woman with 2 children.
and all my blood test came back fine but the FIT test came positive of 200.

im so scared I found out yesterday I’ve literally cried and cried and can’t eat and sleep.

I’m being referred for a colonoscopy in the next two weeks.
my dad has colitis so I’m hoping it’s something along them lines.

  • Hi Sue as you have probably already heard that a positive fit test does not mean you have cancer ,in fact its much more likely to be something fat less sinister ,as you mention it could possibly be colitis ,mine turned out to be Diverticulitis and a fibroid /Polyp ,but it is terrifying all the same until you know for sure , try to relax a bit after the initial shock of a high fit test I know its easy to say and hard to do ,many people on here have had high fit tests and for the majority it was some other problem that caused it, the Doctor is ruling anything nasty out and its good that you are getting checked out ,I hope it all goes well for you ,keep in touch on here and people will help you along .

  • Thank you yeah I’m trying to get my head around it and trying to rationalise it all but can’t help but worry and Google. Think Google has made it worse for me. Just takes you down all the rabbit holes

  • Everybody goes to Google initially ,I did the same until you realise Google cannot diagnose only makes us fear which is what we don't need ,but I agree its hard not to because we are looking for answers whilst waiting for tests or results ,its awful and as you say Google makes it worse ,hopefully you won't have long to wait for your appointment .

  • Hiya

im in your same situation- was kept hanging for a consultant surgeon face to face which I got within a week- then follow up being colonoscopy & gastroscopy this Tuesday morning to rule out cancers & take if needed any relevant biopsy samples.

the waiting is just awful isn’t it?!

im 37  but issues started after I got Covid for 2 weeks xx
