Ultrasound (neck) - Significant abnormality alert

Hi

I've had an enlarged lymph node in my neck for at least 4 months. Coupled with extreme fatigue, dizziness and abnormal bloods (severe anemia and B12 deficiency). I had an ultrasound in October which confirmend the enlarged lymph node and tests for glandular fever etc which came back negative. I had a second ultrasound and fine needle biopsy last week as the lump is still present. Today I read the radiology report which states ***SIGNIFICANT ABNORMALTIES ALERT***

I haven't seen this term previously and I'm not sure what it means. Should I be worried? The results of the biopsy are due in 7 days.

Thanks

  • Welcome to the forum Ash although I'm sorry to hear about your enlarged lymph node.

I know this must be worrying, especially after what you read on the radiology report, but if you can try not to jump to any conclusions or think the worst until your biopsy results have come back. I know that is much easier said than done, but hopefully some of our members will be along soon to offer their support and advice which I hope will help to steady your nerves whilst you wait.

If you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, they're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m on 0808 800 4040. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

We're thinking of you Ash and will have our fingers crossed for good news.
