Breast Cancer investigation at 32

Hi all,

Im posting here because I cannot stop goggling and thinking about it so hoping a forum might be a bit more supportive. I'm 32, last week I noticed a hard lump/mass in the outer upper side of my right breast. It feels about maybe 5cm or so, it doesn't feel like it has smooth defined edges , the very outer edge feels more like a ledge, my fingers sort of click off the edge of it. I've now got a sort of pinching/ tight feeling round it. I have clearish discharge from that nipple but only if squeezed, think once I had a small patch spontaneously but I do always have slight dry crusts on my nipple as if there's been discharge.

The doctor referred me urgently and my appointment is Tuesday. She did say she didn't think my skin was puckering or dimpling, it does wrinkle at the top of my nipple but that may be from extra skin post breastfeeding 3 and half years ago.

My head is just a mess, I can't stop thinking about if its cancer or not. I know theres a lot of possible explanations but I just want prepare myself and know. I'm a teacher and have a 4 year old , I just need to desperately know what the next step is going to be. I'm also suspected autistic and i have huge health anxiety and it's really not helping with all this "unknown" .

Thanks to anyone who's read, i just feel like I need to get it out of my brain !

  • Hi RG93,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand that this must be causing some worries and I am sure that the uncertainty is difficult. Many others on here will be able to relate to this and so hopefully you'll get some more replies to your post soon.

I see that your appointment is tomorrow, so I hope that it goes OK.

We're always here if you need it, even if it's simply to write things down.

    Wishing you all the best,
