Biopsy results 'ASAP' appointment - bad sign?

I had a FNA biopsy 9 days ago for a lump in front of my ear and behind my jaw. I've just been called in for an appointment next week, and when I phoned to find out more the appointments coordinator was only able to say that the referral was to see a doctor 'ASAP'. I'm really worried that this means it is cancer. Does anyone have experience of post-biopsy appointment notifications and whether you can tell from how quickly they pull you in? If it's benign, do you normally get told over the phone. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed.

  • Hi there, I am sorry to hear you are going through this.

it is various in waiting terms  for different biopsies to come back...

For my first one I was chasing them after a month and they said it was benign... Only in half a year they did another biopsy and called me within 2 or 3 days to say they found abnormal cells...

It was during COVID times so may be they want to see people in person now...

For benign results they usually just send a letter...

Fingers crossed you will get a quick answer and treatment, whatever it is.. waiting is the worst ..
