Uterine lining 33mm

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me as I feel like I’m driving myself

mad, I’m a 38 year old mum of 3 Iv had bleeding in between periods for the last couple of years that have gradually got worse. Eventually after leaving it too late I made an appointment and had a scan to which they have told me that my lining is 33mm and shudnt be any more than 16mm at the max. I have been urgently referred to gynaecologist for a hysteroscopy ( not sure if it’s spelt right) I am there on the 11th feb but I’m freaking out coz the word cancer was mentioned can anyone who has had this please let me know if you have experienced this and was it definitely cancer.

  • Hi Courtney37 and a warm welcome to our forum,

You did the right thing in making an appointment to get this checked and I hope that you won't have to wait too long now to see the gynaecologist. If you want to find out more about the hysteroscopy we have some information on our website on the hysteroscopy if you scroll down this page.

I wanted to wish you the best of luck for your appointment on the 11th of Feb and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had similar symptoms and a thickened uterine lining. I know it's really hard but try if you can not to anticipate what it might be as there could be other explanations than cancer and I am keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
