Hi
would just like to introduce my self and my symptoms in the hope I can connect with others that may be of a similar situation.
so I am 38 years old and back in November I noticed blood in my stools. Sometimes it looked on the outer layer but then it would be red poop or tangled within.
then started heavy amounts of mucous with each bowel movement.
my symptoms still persist to this day, some days no visible blood but with every passed bowel movement there is a significant amount of mucus with which has blood in it.
I do have aches around my lower back and pressure feeling in my bum as if I have the urge to go but then unable to pass anything at all or at a bare minimum pass very little.
So after the third week I went to the doctors who examined me and said all was fine. Did some bloods which came back all normal. Fecal Calprotectin came back abnormal at 266.
i ended up returning to the doctors two weeks later (5 weeks since symptoms) as I was passing some heavy clots. It was at this point I found out the result of the Calprotectin test and an urgent referral was made but I believe this is not on the 2 week path way.
anyway Christmas passed with ongoing issues and anxiety through the roof I ordered my own private fit test, this result came back at >200 which they stated their machine can test no higher.
so after two more weeks, I pressed the doctors for an update on my referral and advised them of my fit result but I am still in the dark and no further forward. They have agreed to further check bloods so waiting on those results coming back and have now submitted an nhs fit test. I know a lot of this will now hang on these results but I feel at a loss with what to do, do I just wait it out or do I need to keep pressing even if the results come back normal.
I just feel like I’ve had to do the chasing and that I am not a concern, conflicted information each time. I know cancer risk is low but symptoms persisting for this length surely has to be of some concern now? Even if it’s IBD surely at this point I could be given medication to ease symptoms ?
apologies for the long winded post, but I would really appreciate any comments . Thank you
