Mammogram is looking good apart from 1cm lump

Hi all.
I went for a mammogram and ultrasound recently as I found a small lump near my areola - the consultant has spoken with me as I had a biopsy to see what it is, they said it’s not a cyst.
the consultant said nothing has changed since my last mammogram and all looks ok but obviously want to check what this lump is.  He mentioned it could be a papilloma? What is that?
I did ask him if I was going to die and he confidently said no!
but I am so scared waiting on the results ….. will they just cut it out if it is cancer?
thank you for reading and I must stop googling stuff

  • It's good to hear that everything is still looking ok since your last mammogram Mishym, although I'm sorry you still don't know what this lump is just yet.

The consultant may have been referring to a breast condition called intraductal papilloma but it would be best to discuss this further with them. If you're unable to get in touch with them any time soon, you can discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses. Their number is 0808 800 4040 and they're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m so do give them a call if you want to talk things through with them.

Our members know all too well how scary and stressful this time can be Mishym, so you are not alone, and hopefully some of them will offer you their support and advice soon.

In the meantime, we're thinking of you Mishym and we'll have our fingers crossed for a good outcome.

    Kind regards,
