Complications from having a colonoscopy

Hello,

My father had a colonoscopy two months ago, and the results confirmed that he has bowel cancer, which has since spread to his lungs. Since the procedure, he has been experiencing dizziness, difficulty focusing and concentrating, and a severe “drunk” feeling, followed by a hangover-like stage—without drinking. These symptoms come and go, but they began after the colonoscopy, and we’re struggling to make sense of them.

Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms, or does anyone have any advice on what might be going on?

Thank you.

  • Apologies was carried out only a month ago!

  • Hello Mhill9102

I'm sorry to hear about your father's recent diagnosis of bowel cancer and the problems that they have been experiencing since the initial colonoscopy. It's understandable that this is a difficult time for you all and natural that you might have some questions and concerns.

Have you mentioned these new symptoms to your Dad's GP or the specialist team? If not then I'd really encourage you to do that as soon as you are able to. It's important that the clinicians are able to rule out any other cause for the problems that you've described,

Hopefully you can talk with your Dad's GP or the specialists soon and they can offer some support and reassurance.

    Best wishes,
