Lump in groin

The week before Christmas I felt like what was a small lump in my groin, it was so small though I wasn’t exactly sure so forgot about it. Fast forward just over two weeks and I noticed the lump had grown quite big so booked an appointment with my GP. The lump is hard and doesn’t move, the GP said it was around 5cm in size and felt like it was attached . The next day I had bloods which are mostly normal aside from my lymphocyte levels are low. Today the 15th Jan I’ve had an ultrasound and was just told she had the images needed, would write a report and the GP would get in touch. She said the report could take seven days

trying not to be anxious but it’s hard. For anyone going through similar did you get your results back quicker than a week

  • Hello Cookie-46

I'm sorry to hear that you recently noticed a new lump that had grown. You did exactly the right thing in seeing your GP and it's good to hear that initial investigations have already been carried out.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the ultrasound report to be received by your GP and they will be able to give you some answers and reassurance.

We know that waiting for test results can be an anxious time. If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,

  • The GP rang me the fay after my ultrasound to say something had shown and I was being referred to the haematology clinic under the two week pathway. She mentioned something about the lump having blood vessels

not sure what tests will be carried out at this next appointment so a little anxious
