Breast ducectomy

Hi, I am 71yrs old and have been told I need a total ducectomy due to constant nipple discharge for last 12 mths. Any tips on recovering as I am also full time carer for my 76yr old husband?

  • Hi Gianna-croft,

I noticed you haven't had a reply just yet so I just wanted to offer you a very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat forum and reassure you that your post has been seen.

Hopefully some of our members who have had a breast ductectomy will be along soon to share their tips for recovery, but if you'd like to get some advice from one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all that they can to help.

I'm not sure from your post when you are having this done, but I'm wishing you the very best of luck. We'll be thinking of you and hope everything goes o.k.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hi Steph,

I have just had surgery to repair a cartilage in my knee and as I have had to wait a year for this surgery my breast consultant said to have this done first. I'm scheduled to have the ducectomy in March to give me time to recover. I lost my cousin who was 32yrs old due to breast cancer. The ultrasound shows enlarged ducts but they can't see why hence the surgery to find out.

    Gianna-croft.
