Solid Mass

Hey everyone I was after some advice, I was referred for an ultrasound for PCOS 2 weeks ago. I don’t have PCOS but one ovary contains a solid mass with free fluid & the other ovary is bulky and contains “echogenic solid components with anechoic spaces”, i have no idea what it means, but They have now put me on the 2ww for suspected ovarian cancer.

Has anyone had this? or been down the route off the tests? I’m quite nervous and don’t know what to expect as my doctors haven’t explained a single thing.

  • Hello littlelegs23

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns and that following an ultrasound you now find yourself on the 2ww pathway for ovarian cancer. it's understandable that you have questions and concerns about things.

We have some information on our website about tests for ovarian cancer that may be helpful. We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. Sometimes it can help to talk with someone about how you're feeling and I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk with one of our nurses ahead of your next appointment. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment littlelegs23 and that the team can give you some reassurance when you see them. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • thank you so much for your reply, I had my first appointment, they are doing blood tests and a CT scan. Still unsure on what this solid mass is. So its now a waiting game!
