Cervical Cancer/ Ectropian

Hi,

I'm full of anxiety and just need some voices of reason and or personal experiences.

For about a year now I have been having sharp pains in my lower left abdomen and pain in my lower back. Other symptoms I have are extreme tiredness, constant pain like period pains (even when I'm not on), extremely heavy periods (leaking through 2/3 times per day, extremely painful periods. More recently I've been having alot of discharge and its now a pinky colour.

The sharp pains are not constant but when I move a certain way, sneeze or cough the pain is so sharp it has brought tears to my eyes and I'm bent over in agony. Although applying pressure to the area does help ease the pain quicker.

A little history I have had high risk HPV for 5 years now and have yearly smears to keep an eye on it. My last smear the nurse said my cervix looks very 'angry' and she suspects it's cervical ectropion and not to worry.

I had a full blood test back in November 24 including the CA125 which came back normal. But I do have high colesterol and low vit D.

I was also referred for an ultrasound but as the waiting list is minimum 12 weeks I'll have no answers until atleast end of Jan early Feb.

I'm a mum of 2, great grandma passed of ovarian cancer and my dad is currently under treatment for prostate cancer.

My anxiety is through the roof and I can't shake the feeling that something is really wrong.

Thanks

  • Hi Annaliese,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing these difficulties, and I know the uncertainty is not easy to deal with.

It's good that you've had this checked out and that you have a referral in place. You can try calling the hospital to see if there are any opportunities to be seen sooner, for example if they have cancellations. If you have concerns about worsening symptoms, give your doctor a call to see if they can suggest anything or can speed things up.

I hope you're able to get the appointment soon.

In the meantime, hopefully you'll get more replies to your post here.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
