Fit test

I have recently had abnormal blood results found routinely (low hb, ferritin) now my Fit test has come back positive with a result of >200. I’ve now been referred on the 2WW for a colonoscopy . I don’t have any other symptoms but my Father died of bowel cancer aged 75 (I’m 64). Has anyone else had a high fit test result where everything turned out to be fine? X

  • Hello MargyW and welcome to the forum.
It’s understandable that you’re feeling worried after your blood results and the positive FIT test, especially with your family history. It’s good that these things have been picked up and that you’re being referred for further investigation quickly through the 2WW pathway.
Although a positive FIT result can be concerning, it’s worth remembering that there are many reasons why it might be high, and not all of them are cancer related. Some people do have high results and find out later that it was due to something less serious, so try to keep that in mind while you’re waiting.
Hopefully, others here who have been in a similar situation can share their experiences and offer some reassurance. It’s such a supportive community, and you’re not alone in this.
Take care of yourself, and let us know how you get on.

  • Thank you so much for your reply. I have a telephone consultation tomorrow with the Colorectal Consultant so I’ll have to wait and see what he says x
