CA125 of 59

Hi there,

Just after some advice, my mum who is 61 had breastcancer 10 years ago has become poorly. She thought she had long covid combined with osteoporosis, as for a few months she has been nauseous and having pelvic pain and tiredness. She had bloods done and it said her CA125 is 59. She's got a scan next week which feels to us all like forever away.

I know you shouldn't google things, but ovarian cancer, lymphoma and peritonitis keep coming up.  Is there anything else from her age that it could be? The standard things occurring don't seem common in her age group.  Her aunt did have ovarian cancer, but my mum is a very healthy woman and my aunt grew up in poor times in a poor place.

Thank you so much

  • Soooo many reasons for ca125 being raised. Cysts, fibroids, bleeding, pelvic inflammatory disease.
I am under the care of a gynaecologist and was told the test has so many reasons to be in the hundreds and even when ver low it can be incorrect, she said it was not a reliable test for a sign of anything that’s why it’s not openly offered as a test to check for ovarian cancers.
your scan will tell your mum much more, but please don’t worry. There are so many reasons and it’s so good get scan in a week! Sending hopeful and well wishes to your mum.
